About Us

About Our Foundation

Jack Helbig Memorial Foundation’s main goal is to prevent drowning. We aim to educate all children and their families on how to be safer around water. Our vision is a world where people practice safer behaviors around water and do not drown.
LET’S STOP DROWNING.

To achieve our goal we:

Educate public about water safety through community interaction.
Increase access to swim lessons for all children.
Collaborate with schools to implement water safety curriculum in the classroom.

What We Do



With your donations, we provide swimming scholarships, donate water safety books to local schools and support other water safety initiatives.



Events

We participate in local safety events to raise awareness. The Spring Lake Shiver Polar Splash, our annual fundraiser, is hosted each January.



Education

We educate families on water safety through partnerships with local schools, online education, and swim lesson programs.

JHMF is offering the opportunity for community members and businesses to sponsor a Water Safety Station for Oak Island & Surf City.
